Months of fighting with WordPress left me reevaluating the current state of my blog. My ideas for new devotions ran low. My desire to write fiction increased. Ultimately, I realized that half of my current content did not relate to my end goal of publishing children’s books. So, I’ve decided to make some blog changes!
Blog Changes
As a believer in Jesus, I want my blog to showcase the impact my relationship with Him has had on my life. In the past, I did this by writing weekly devotions. However, God did not gift me in the area of devotion writing, and I ran out of ideas. I switched from writing two devotions a week to one. Now, I realize that God gifted other men and women with the passion and wisdom to write devotions, and I don’t have to be one of them. My passion has always been fiction. Sure, I dabbled some with memoir in college, but mainly, I cared about telling a story.
Moving forward, I’ve decided to switch my weekly devotions to weekly fiction anecdotes. You can expect character profiles for my books-in-progress, serial short stories, and random writing prompts. Of course, a real relationship with Christ can’t help but show up somewhere. I don’t know exactly how faith will show up in these stories. It may show up differently each time. Ultimately, I want to praise God and share His comfort with those who read my writing. I’ll just share it through stories instead of devotions now.
Some Things Stay the Same
While I will switch the content of my Wednesday posts, Friday book reviews are sticking around! It’s been so much fun to connect with some of the authors. I learn so much from their writing styles, and it’s an honor to promote their hard work!
Of course, I’m currently binge-reading two series as fast as the library can get them to me. That doesn’t make for the most exciting posts. So, if you have any recommendations on new juvenile fiction to read, I’m all ears!
Blog Recommendations
Finally, I don’t want to leave my devotion readers hanging! As I mentioned before, God gifted many men and women with the wisdom and passion to write powerful devotions. I’ve linked several of my favorites below.
- Mrs. Brenda at Becoming His Tapestry
- Mr. Ben at I Can Do…So Can You
- Mrs. Nancy at From the Inside Out
- Miss Caralyn at Beauty Beyond Bones
